Start with the building, not just its size
Review the slab, foundations, walls, roof, moisture conditions and permit history. A garage that works for storage may need substantial upgrades before it can function as a dwelling.
Build a complete living space
Plan a kitchen, bathroom, sleeping and living areas alongside natural light, ventilation and storage. Review fire separation, insulation, drainage, electrical work and plumbing routes with the design team.
Attached, detached or junior ADU?
